"Dresses"
Mixed Media Series
By Jill Mynarcik
I feel it is a huge accomplishment as a new artist to present this second series in the same year I was picked up by Wilder Nightingale Gallery Fine Art. I released my first series “Unapologetically American” over the 4th of July weekend this year 2010. This new series of dresses was inspired by my two beautiful daughters Jordan and Gabrielle. My daughters are 19 and 8, the time goes by so quickly with them, there is one piece called “precious time” that reminds me how precious the time is when they are little and still need their parents and how fast that time slips through our fingers. Each piece relates to my experiences in life, with my daughters and girlfriends and all the different dresses and reasons we wore them. There is something magical about being a girl and the love we have for dresses. I found so much joy in creating these pieces, each one being unique and special in its own way. I feel this series represents my passion as an artist more so than my first series and shows more accurately where I feel my art is headed. I love the magical underground world of the girly girl mixed media art. Being able to create something so feminine and magical was a gift from God and I am thankful for the inspiration and the ability. I hope that the pieces will strike a cord with every woman and man that views them, taking them back to times and places that are memorable in each of their lives and the dresses that were worn for those special occasions.
